Honda Odyssey Service Manual: Hub Bearing Unit Replacement

  1. Raise and support the vehicle.

  1. Remove the wheel nuts (A) and the wheel.

  2. A14 x 1.5 mm127 N·m(13.0 kgf·m, 94 lbf·ft)
  1. Remove the brake hose mounting bolt (A).

  2. CB12 x 1.25 mm88 N·m (9.0 kgf·m, 65 lbf·ft)A8 x 1.25 mm 21 N·m (2.1 kgf·m, 15 lbf·ft)
  3. Remove the brake caliper bracket mounting bolts (B), then remove the caliper assembly (C) from the knuckle. To prevent damage to the caliper assembly or the brake hose, use a short piece of wire to hang the caliper assembly from the undercarriage. Do not twist the brake hose excessively.

  1. Remove the two washers (A).

    NOTE: During installation, make sure the washers are installed between the brake caliper bracket and the knuckle.

  1. Release the parking brake lever fully, and remove the rear brake disc/drum.

  1. Remove the hub bearing unit (A) and the O-ring (B).

  2. A12 x 1.25 mm98 N·m(10.0 kgf·m, 72 lbf·ft)BReplace.
  3. Check the hub bearing unit for damage and cracks.

  4. Install the hub bearing unit in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:

    • Use a new O-ring on reassembly.

    • Before installing the brake disc/drum, clean the mating surfaces between the hub bearing unit and the inside of the brake disc/drum.

    • Before installing the wheel, clean the mating surfaces between the brake disc/drum and the inside of the wheel.

  5. Check the wheel alignment, and adjust it if necessary.
