  1. Remove the air cleaner.

  1. Remove the master cylinder.

  1. Remove the brake lines (A) from the VSA modulator-control unit (B).

  2. A22 N·m(2.2 kgf·m,16 lbf·ft)BC
  3. Disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose (C) from the brake booster.

  1. Remove the lock pin (A) and the clevis pin (B), then disconnect the clevis from the brake pedal.

  2. C8 x 1.25 mm12 N·m(1.2 kgf·m,9 lbf·ft)BA?
  3. Remove the brake booster mounting nuts (C).

  1. Remove the brake booster (A) from the engine compartment.

    NOTE:

    • Be careful not to damage the brake booster mounting surfaces and the threads on the booster studs.

    • Be careful not to bend or damage the brake lines.

    • Use a new brake booster gasket (B) during reassembly.

  2. ABReplace.
  3. Install the brake booster in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:

    • Install the master cylinder after installing the brake booster.

    • Check the brake pedal height and free play after installing the master cylinder, and adjust it if necessary.

    • Bleed the brake system.
