Required Materials:

  • Masking tape

  • Plumb line

  • Scale

Before checking:

  • Make sure the vehicle does not have aftermarket suspension.

  • Make sure all the tires are the correct size, and set their pressures to the specifications shown on the doorjamb label.

  • Make sure the fuel tank is full.

  • Remove all cargo from the vehicle except the spare tire and tool kit.

  • Park the vehicle on level ground (within 1 degree). Do not do this procedure with the vehicle on a lift or with the tires on steel plates or rollers.

  • Make sure the steering wheel is pointed straight ahead, and do not turn it after parking the vehicle.

  • Shift the transmission into P, and apply the parking brake.

  1. Remove the rear bumper.

  1. Remove the BSI radar unit(s).

    NOTE: Make sure to remove BSI radar unit when repairing the body.


  1. Install appropriate length 6 mm bolts for each of the BSI radar unit mounting holes.

    HOLE A:

    1.77-1.97 in (45-50 mm)

    HOLE B:

    2.17-2.36 in (55-60 mm)

    HOLE C:

    1.97-2.17 in (50-55 mm)

  1. Hold or tape the plumb line against the rear quarter panel directly above mounting hole A, and thread the bolt in or out until the head of the bolt just touches the plumb line.

  1. Measure the distance from the head to the end of the threaded insert in the rear quarter panel. If needed, have a body shop adjust the body panel.

    HOLE A:

    1.378±0.118 in (35.0±3.0 mm)

  2. HOLE ANOTE: This illustration shows left of the vehicle, right is similar.

  1. Hold or tape the plumb line against the rear quarter panel directly above mounting hole B, and thread the bolt in or out until the head of the bolt just touches the plumb line.

  1. Measure the distance from the head to the end of the threaded insert in the rear quarter panel. If needed, have a body shop adjust the body panel.

    HOLE B:

    HOLE A+0.280±0.079 in (7.1±2.0 mm)

  2. HOLE BNOTE: This illustration shows left of the vehicle, right is similar.

  1. Hold or tape the plumb line against the rear quarter panel directly above mounting hole C, and thread the bolt in or out until the head of the bolt just touches the plumb line.

  1. Measure the distance from the head to the end of the threaded insert in the rear quarter panel. If needed, have a body shop adjust the body panel.

    HOLE C:

    HOLE A+0.854±0.079 in (21.7±2.0 mm)

  2. HOLE CNOTE: This illustration shows left of the vehicle, right is similar.
  1. Install BSI radar unit, and do the BSI radar unit aiming inspection.

  1. Reinstall the remaining parts.
